Drainage Systems
Collection and removal of rain water from any town or area is known as
drainage system. There are two principal systems known as COMBINED and SEPARATE
SYSTEM. In the former, one set of drains or sewers is provided for rainwater and
other for sewage. Both the systems have their advantages and disadvantages.
Drains can be open as well as closed again depending upon the area, type of
town, discharge and rainfall. Open drains can be of brickwork, pitching with bricks
/ stone and are of different shapes. When the area is low lying, even pumping
stations have to be established.
